Reader - What are the rituals that keep you grounded during trialing times? Since the start of the year, my daily ritual has been simple:
I walk to the intracoastal, coffee in hand, to watch the pinks turn into yellows. Sometimes a manatee swims by, and I say hello. I then surrender to God's will for the day and commit to physical and emotional sobriety. Wherever I am in the evening, whether by the beach, out by the Everglades, or even just in my car, I turn toward the setting sun and feel the gratitude of a day well lived. And then I sleep. Early, deeply, dreamily. In this simplicity, amazing seeds have begun to sprout:
There is simplicity in the surrender. There is sweetness in the surrender. There is success in the surrender. Remember that for conscious leaders, for Empath Leaders, self-care is not optional. It is foundational. And while self-care can look like a gentle pedicure or some time alone without your children, at its core, self-care is about keeping pristine conditions inside your temple - mind, body, and soul. Oftentimes we have to strip away many things in our lives to activate this deeper connection. In the recent past, I was not maintaining pristine conditions. I let doubt and fear cloud my mind, champagne, and cookies clog my system, and non-reciprocal relationships drain my soul. The simple act of surrendering to a power outside of myself - to a benevolent God and universe - has helped me to reconnect to my body - and subsequently to my greater calling as a steward of new cultural institutions, like Soul Excellence Publishing, that create space for a healing humanity to show up fully.
